EX1 News
We are happy to report that our EX
1 housing has been fully upgraded. Our thanks to the
team at Gates Underwater Products, they have provided
superb service.
The first improvement was to
replace the protruding float tubes with a foam flotation
collar. This is a Fathom Super Wide Port (swp44c)
feature only. The port is quite negative and the new
collar does a great job of creating neutral buoyancy
without the drawbacks that came with the float tubes.
The collar is easier to travel with, easier to swim
with, easier camera movements in the water, and far
easier when handling the rig, especially getting in and
out of the water.
The second improvement is a new
eyepiece. The old one took some imagination to utilize.
The new one is better in every way. Better image of the
viewfinder, better ergonomics, and better access to
information displayed. It is really easy to use. The new
level of performance makes the housing faster and more
productive.
The third improvement was to
install a second flip, this one with a +1 diopter for
use with standard ports. This only pertains to standard
ports. It was done to sharpen up the image. Gates
