AquaVideo News
Our AquaVideo housing has been
quite busy the past two months. She’s not very
glamorous, but “gets the job done.” There has been much debate and comparison, but the
bottom line is good picture
quality despite a lack of features. I agree with Mike
Hastings, Mr. AquaVideo, that
the latest test was hampered somewhat by lens selection.
While basic lens controls
do work, this stock unit is more of a “set and shoot”
affair, something best done with
wider lenses. Many owners have customized their basic units. Some
owners have upgraded their
AquaVideo for Red One housings with geared or motorized
lens controls. Mike has
even built variations to physically accommodate specific
lens choice. A variety of
ports are available. One company has even made a
“stretched” version, able to
accommodate an extra battery. We have customized our unit with a buoyancy system, a
bit of a home grown affair
but very effective in pool situations. There is near
perfect buoyancy control,
especially in the most common configuration, 5.6 inch
LCD mounted internally and
18‐50 mm Red Lens. In response to customer requests, more improvements are
in the works:
We plan to add HD SDI monitoring capability soon.
I am working to compile a list of lenses that work with
my stock control setup. More news updates coming soon. |
